Using funds generated from their donated 1,030 kilos of used
lead-acid batteries to the Motolite-PBSP
Balik Baterya Program, Union Galvasteel Corporation - Calamba Plant was able to provide educational
materials for Bagong Silang ES consisting of 32” LCD TV, DVD player and various
e-learning CDs.
Bagong Silang ES is the plant’s adopted school since 2002.
The e-learning CDs donated concentrated on Science and
Health topics so that the pupils can be helped in this subject. Last year, the
school’s relatively low Mean Percentage Score is brought by its low average in
English and Science.
This donation addresses the school’s difficulty in supplying
the necessary learning materials which will contribute to better comprehension
of the students. It can also help the teachers manage the classes whenever a
colleague gets sick or is unable to get to the school during onset of heavy
rains.
Plant Manager Mr. Arthur M. Florendo and other UGC
executives turned over the donation to Bagong Silang ES School Principal Mr.
Raul M. Volante last May 12, 2012.
