Supplemental Feeding Yr 2 for Dila ES, Sta. Rosa, Laguna

Last December 7, Toyota Auto Parts, Inc., GenTwoFifteen Development Foundation, Inc. and PBSP signed another MOU for the implementation of next year's supplemental feeding in Dila Elementary School, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Now on its Year 2, the ULAB funds generated will support GDFI's three-month feeding project that is targeted to benefit 35 schoolchildren. Its Year 1 assistance has benefited 42 schoolchildren in the same school.

Signing the MOU are GDFI President Marlon Era, TAP President Mr. Hiroshi Takeuchi, PBSP Membership Development Unit Manager Ms. Vicky San Juan-Co TAP and GAD Department Manager Ms. Anita Antonio.

Hazards of ULABs

* Lead is toxic and used electrolytes contain dissolved lead.
* Sulfuric acid is corrosive and contaminates soil and water when spilled.
* Ingestion or inhalation may cause anemia, high blood pressure, kidney problems, infertility, miscarriage, and nervous system damage.
* Exposed children may suffer from neurological disorders like learning disabilities and short attention span.

Thus, it is imperative that we dispose our ULABs properly. Let's not dispose these to informal recylers and junk shops who do not have pollution control. The common practice of battery breaking can cause contaminationof our water and drainage systems such as canals, rivers, creeks and wells.
