Fast Services Corporation Hosts Balik Baterya Session

Last May 31, the Motolite-PBSP Balik Program was presented to Fast Services Corporation (FSC) and its contractors/truckers.

Learning from how Nestle has influenced its truckers, FSC is very much interested to green also its supply chain through adoption of Balik Baterya.

FSC has turned over almost 500 kilos of ULABs to the program, through the two collection events that Nestle Phils, Inc. – Supply Chain Management Office facilitated.

142 volunteers trained to facilitate remedial reading camps

Hazards of ULABs

* Lead is toxic and used electrolytes contain dissolved lead.
* Sulfuric acid is corrosive and contaminates soil and water when spilled.
* Ingestion or inhalation may cause anemia, high blood pressure, kidney problems, infertility, miscarriage, and nervous system damage.
* Exposed children may suffer from neurological disorders like learning disabilities and short attention span.

Thus, it is imperative that we dispose our ULABs properly. Let's not dispose these to informal recylers and junk shops who do not have pollution control. The common practice of battery breaking can cause contaminationof our water and drainage systems such as canals, rivers, creeks and wells.
