Nestle Truckers Join Roster, Transworld Brokerage Leads First Batch of Donation

After a series of Balik Baterya presentations hosted by Nestle’s Supply Chain Management – Transport Group, their 13 trucking companies formally inked their support to the Balik Baterya Program’s Project LEAP last June 16.

Representing Nestle in the picture are SCM-Transport’s AVP Mr. Dennis Llovido and Ms. Rhia Pereda.

Earlier on, Nestle trucking company Transworld Brokerage Corporation led the donation of 920 kilos of ULABs for a project that will benefit Payatas C Elementary School.

Hazards of ULABs

* Lead is toxic and used electrolytes contain dissolved lead.
* Sulfuric acid is corrosive and contaminates soil and water when spilled.
* Ingestion or inhalation may cause anemia, high blood pressure, kidney problems, infertility, miscarriage, and nervous system damage.
* Exposed children may suffer from neurological disorders like learning disabilities and short attention span.

Thus, it is imperative that we dispose our ULABs properly. Let's not dispose these to informal recylers and junk shops who do not have pollution control. The common practice of battery breaking can cause contaminationof our water and drainage systems such as canals, rivers, creeks and wells.
